Grandma’s Basement
FAQs
Answers about custom apparel, standalone DTF prints, artwork, production, and delivery. How do I place a custom order?
Choose the ordering path that fits your project:
- Small Custom Orders: 1–10 T-shirts, crewnecks, hoodies, or hats with pricing calculated online.
- Bulk Orders: 11 or more pieces, specialty apparel, or projects that need a custom volume quote.
- DTF Prints: Standalone transfers for customers who will apply the prints themselves.
Use the main menu to go directly to the correct page.
Is there a minimum order quantity?
No. You can order one piece through the Small Custom Orders builder. Orders of 11 or more pieces use the Bulk Order form for volume pricing.
How is small custom apparel priced?
The garment price depends on the garment type and quality tier shown in the builder. Printing and pressing are added per garment:
- Small chest logo: $10
- Full front or full back: $20
- Small chest plus full back: $25
- 2XL garments: +$2 each
Small orders do not receive quantity discounts. Use the Bulk Order form for 11 or more pieces and volume pricing.
How are custom hats priced?
A ball cap, trucker hat, or snapback is $10, and a front print with pressing is $10. A standard custom hat starts at $20 before artwork services. Local customers may provide a compatible hat and pay only for printing, pressing, and artwork services.
How are standalone DTF prints priced?
Choose a listed print size or enter exact custom dimensions. Custom pricing is calculated from the finished width and height, then rounded to the nearest 50 cents. The maximum print size is 13 × 23 inches.
DTF print prices cover standalone transfers only. Pressing is not included.
What artwork services are available?
Artwork charges are one-time fees per design:
- Print-ready: No fee
- Basic cleanup: $5
- Extensive cleanup: $15
- Original design: $25
Separate front and back designs may require separate artwork fees.
Do I need print-ready artwork?
No. The builders accept PNG, JPG, PDF, and SVG files, and you can select the artwork service your design needs.
If artwork marked print-ready appears likely to print poorly or needs additional work, production will pause while we contact you. You may approve printing it as submitted or authorize an artwork service. Production time begins after the artwork is approved.
What if I do not have artwork?
Select Original design when ordering. After the order is submitted, Grandma’s Basement will contact you by phone or email to discuss your idea, references, colors, wording, and other details.
Can I upload multiple designs?
For a chest-and-back apparel order, you can upload separate artwork for each location. For standalone DTF prints, configure and add each different design to the cart separately so every file has the correct size and quantity.
Will I see a proof before printing?
Yes. Custom apparel orders receive a digital proof for approval after the order is submitted and before production begins. We will not begin production without artwork approval.
What products can you print on?
The Small Custom Orders builder supports T-shirts, crewnecks, hoodies, ball caps, trucker hats, and snapbacks. Long sleeves, tank tops, tote bags, specialty garments, and other apparel may be requested through the Bulk Order form.
Can I provide my own garments?
Yes, for local orders. You pay for printing, pressing, and any artwork service, with no garment charge. Customer-supplied items must be clean, print-ready, and compatible with our printing process. Please confirm compatibility before purchasing garments elsewhere.
Grandma’s Basement is not responsible for defects caused by the garment’s material, prior wear, or manufacturing issues. Supplying one extra garment is recommended when possible.
Can I request a garment color that is not listed?
Yes. Choose the other-color option and enter the color you want. We will confirm availability before production begins. Specific colors, sizes, or brands may require additional ordering time.
How long does production take?
Most small custom orders using in-stock garments are completed within 1–3 business days after artwork approval. Orders requiring special garment colors, sizes, brands, or additional artwork services may take 5–10 business days. Bulk orders may require additional time depending on quantity and garment availability.
Have a deadline? Let us know when ordering. Rush and same-day service may be available depending on our current workload and available inventory.
Do you offer rush orders?
Rush and same-day service may be available depending on our production schedule, artwork readiness, and garment availability. Rush fees may apply. Share your deadline when ordering so we can confirm what is possible.
What printing methods do you use?
Depending on the project, we may use DTF printing or screen printing. We will recommend the best option based on the design, garment, quantity, and budget.
Can you match specific colors?
We do our best to match colors as closely as possible, but exact reproduction can vary between screens, printers, fabrics, and printing methods.
When do I pay?
Small custom apparel and standalone DTF orders display pricing and proceed through checkout online. Bulk orders are reviewed and quoted separately before payment is requested.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept major credit cards and the other payment methods displayed during Shopify checkout.
Do you ship orders?
Yes. We ship throughout the United States. Available shipping rates and estimated delivery times are displayed at checkout. Delivery time is separate from production time.
Can I pick up my order?
Yes. Local pickup is available when your order is complete. We will notify you when it is ready.
What if I need changes after approving my proof?
Once production has started, changes may not be possible and additional charges may apply. Review all artwork, spelling, colors, sizes, and placement carefully before approving your proof.
Do you print copyrighted or trademarked designs?
We reserve the right to refuse an order that may infringe copyrights, trademarks, or other intellectual-property rights. By submitting artwork, you confirm that you have permission to use it.
